Outlander.
Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 10:41PM

"Outlander is a motion picture about a humanoid alien that crash-lands his space ship on earth in the eighth century in what would now be Norway. If that wasn’t bad enough, there is also a monster on his spaceship that starts terrorizing a nearby viking tribe. Eventually the the alien has to team up with the vikings to try and kill the monster. The movie has at times been described like a cross between braveheart, highlander, and predator. It fuses science fiction elements with a period action drama."
Wizards First Rule and Disney-ABC.
Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 1:33PM Production began this month on Sam Raimi's 22 episode run of Terry Goodkind's novel, Wizards First Rule, the first book in a series entitled, The Sword Of Truth.
Some love these books...some hate them.
Me?
I'm a big Sword Of Truth fan. The first shwack of books were GREAT! I will admit that later in the series Goodkind becomes bogged down with his own personal agendas, and the story becomes a little to preachy for my tastes, but overall, I'd have to say that, yes, I am a fan.
Anyways...casting.
Richard Cypher, the main character of our story will be played by, Craig Horner. Opposite Richard is of course our heroine, Kahlan, who will be played by actress, Bridget Regan.

The Name Of The Wind.
Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 8:14PM Is thumping good fun!! There was a reason that author Patrick Rothfuss's name was all over the book blogs when The Name Of The Wind was released last year. When you finish reading it you will see exactly why I and thousands of others have nothing but good things to say.

300!
Friday, March 9, 2007 at 1:33PM Fantastic!!
Its been well over a year now since I first heard of this story being brought to the big screen, the wait has been long, and now that I have finally made it to the journeys end I can say with full confidence that the wait was worth it!
Absolutely stunning to watch, every single frame of the film was meticulously cleaned and tightened up to make the two hour show a smorgasboard of sumptuous eye candy! The Spartan soldiers were grim, tough...and really everything a Spartan soldier should be, and on the other side of things the Persians were absolutely fantastic! The God King, or Xerxes if you will, seemed to be pulled right out of the pages of the comic book and was amazingly horrific to watch on screen, as was his entire army, in particular his elite soldiers, the Immortals.
Despite the very close connection that the film had with the original comic there were some things added, and despite my reluctant misgiving towards these additions I have to say that it very much felt like it enhanced the original tale and in no way detracted from what was going on with the main story line. The wife of Leonidas portrayed the strength of a Spartan woman flawlessly and lived up to what I would expect from someone who had won the heart of the mightiest of Spartan warriors.
Good Gods I cant wait to see this film over again!!

I just like the picture -- well, I like the books to...they're perfect for reading in the bathroom.
Flesh and Spirit.
Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 12:22AM A new novel by author Carol Berg, Flesh and Spirit is the first in The Lighthouse duology, due on shelves this coming May. The second novel, Breath And Bones, ships January of 2008.
Berg is an author that always manages to pluck at every single one of my emotional strings. She gets right inside of you with her writing, and before you know it she has you on your knees begging for more.
Anyways the cover art has been released, and really anything painted by Luis Royo is in my books something worth blogging about. Heres a peek at the cover.

"In a land torn apart by civil war, pestilence, and shaky alliances, a man branded a traitor ends up in a place he never expected…The rebellious son of a long line of pureblood cartographers and diviners, Valen has spent most of his life trying to escape what society — and his family — have ordained for him. His own mother has predicted that he will meet his doom in water, blood, and ice. Her divination seems fulfilled when a comrade abandons Valen in a rainy wilderness half-dead, addicted to an enchantment that converts pain to pleasure, and possessing only a stolen book of maps.
Offered sanctuary in a nearby monastery, Valen discovers that his book — rumored to lead men into the realm of angels — gains him entry into a world of secret societies, doomsayers, monks, princes, and madmen, all seeking to unlock the mystery of a coming dark age. To his dismay, Valen must face what he fled so long ago, for the key to Navronne's doom is buried in half-forgotten myth and the secrets of his own past..."
Eragon...the book.
Monday, November 27, 2006 at 2:49PM I guess I was wrong.
I'm only a little under halfway through right now - and yes, for the most part the story is a typical cliche fantasy with an unlikely hero that has to overcome extraordinary obstacles, only made possible with an inner power that he is slowly discovering through the help of some powerfully wise allies...but rather then feeling redundant and re-hashed, Paolini has managed to infuse his tale with a feeling of warmth and comfort that makes me happy to be a part of it.
It's not the greatest book out there, but ya gotta wonder if Paolini is pulling off this kind of work so young...what has he got in store for us in the future?
Kudos to Paolini, and thank you for Eragon. I can only hope that the film will do his story some sort of justice.
Shadowplay.

El Laberinto Del Fauno
Monday, October 23, 2006 at 11:44PM Or, Pan's Labyrinth. A film that I have mentioned a few times here, here and here.
A DVD screener leaked onto the usual pirate sites - and being the weak willed man that I am...I took full advantage, and hot damn am I ever glad that I did!!
*stands and applauds Guillermo del Toro*
Bravo!
Easily Guillermo's best film to date, and dare I say the pinnacle of his career!
The story was beautifully tragic, a wondrous fairy tale that frightens as well as inspires. Slow at times, but Guillermo peppered the entire story with these intense scenes of amazing fantastical elements that makes the whole thing worth watching. Especially (without giving away any serious spoilers) the feast scene.
This is what movies are about - this is what cinema can accomplish - this is exactly the film I had been hoping for ever since I heard of it way back when.
Cant wait to see it on the big screen.
The Burning Crusade!
Sunday, October 15, 2006 at 12:23AM
Its coming, and yes I'm pretty excited! I'll admit that I haven't been playing World of Warcraft for quite some time now - but with the Burning Crusade Expansion coming I'm pretty eager, and pretty excited to get back into it.
I mean really, who needs a life right? <<>
