Starbursting into Farscape.

Farscape was, and is, one of my all time favorite Science Fiction television shows. Last night I began with episode 01 of season 01 and I have to say that I am pretty excited to begin my second journey through this wonderful adventure.

So expect many Farscape posts and quotes in the coming days ahead. So expect many musings, fantasies, and dreams of sexual exploits involving (and/or between) Peace Keeper Aeryn Sun and Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan, the serene blue Delvian priestess.

Mmmmmm.... -_-

Nightwish and Farscape.

Good band...GREAT television show. The last 30 seconds of the video is pretty weak though. I just felt like blogging something and one doesn't really need an excuse to talk about Farscape.

So essentially it is like the gods that be took my two favorite Sci-fi dramas and twisted them together to please and tickle the very core of my soul.

So I'm a geek.

I have come to terms with this a long time ago. Still from time to time I take a step back and am kinda afraid and surprised at the depths of geekiness I have very blindly (and happily) descended.

I used to be cool...And then all of a sudden I wasn't. I was a geek.

Hmmm...Can one be a cool geek? Lets hope so. Still...Do I qualify for that kind of a title? After reading this you might not think so.

I love Stargate. Not the movie...But the weekly televised run of Stargate SG-1. You know...The one with MacGyver and the big black dude with the tattoo on his forehead.

There. Its out.

I never really paid that much attention to the show in the beginning...Actually more then the beginning, it ws more like the first 5-6 seasons. On a whim one day I picked up the Season 1 box set DVD. From then on it was a wild ride to the finish. I couldn't get enough! Colonel Jack O'Neil (actually a General now) and his crafty and intellectually empowered gang were always hooking me in episode after episode. The daring and awe inspiring trips through a wormhole created in the spacetime continuum via a Stargate left behind by a race of peoples called The Ancients never ceased to stop in entertaining me!

I guess there is a reason why Stargate is the longest running Sci-fi drama running on television. But if that's so then how come everyone I talk to balk and snicker at me when I make mention of me being a fan?

Regardless...That's not why I am making this blog. As of now SG-1 is in its 8th season and while it isn't as grand as some of its previous years its still going quite strong. Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O'Neil) has slowly started fading himself out of the story. Cant say I blame him really...The dude is getting old and I guess its just time to start enjoying the more simple things in life, like say kicking it in retirement. In my opinion this has more or less been the main reason behind why I haven't enjoyed the show as much. While the rest of the cast is great...Anderson was always the meat around the bone for me. His daring bravado and general lack of respect for authority always hit home with me...Jack was the man, he could do anything.

The season is nearing its end (in the UK anyways) and talk of the Ninth season has already started. And yes there is indeed going to be a ninth season. I don't think it has been announced yet as to what capacity if any that Richard Dean Anderson will be playing in this new season.

There are however quite a few VERY interesting tidbits about the 9th year of this show. This is in fact the very reason as to why I am even writing this out right now.

Oh wait...Were gonna sidetrack for a moment. Actually...I have a feeling its gonna be a long moment...The pipe is still warm from use, and I feel the need to prove how deep my geekiness really does go.

Farscape.

Wow.

Another great Sci-Fi drama.

It didn't last as long as SG1 has...In fact it only lasted four seasons and a mini series which actually just premiered not to very long ago.

Still...Right alongside Stargate, Farscape has to be one of my favorites! Its a completely different feel then SG1...More hardcore SciFi, but the cast dynamic clicked in the same way that SG1 seemed to have. A key ingredient to any successful stoy I suppose.

It doesn't hurt at all that Claudia Black is hot as hell either. In my opinion Aeryn Sun (Black)kicks the snot out of Samantha Carter (Tapping) anyday. However if the two were inclined to maybe kiss a little bit and perhaps even touch I wouldn't feel ashamed for watching.

Farscape also had the Jim Henson magic that always seems to work so well. CGI is fine and dandy and can do some wonderful things...But Farscape used puppets and the feel of something like that always makes me feel like I am in a very special place. To me...That's real movie magic. I mean C'mon, puppet Jabba the Hutt vs. CGI Jabba The Hutt? I don't even need to say which one was cooler!
So ya Farscape rocks my world as well.

Ok...End of sidetrack. Back to the upcoming 9th season of Stargate.

This is the news. Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) is pregnant. Wait. Didn't phrase properly. Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter) is pregnant. Replacing the female role of an SG1 teammate in season 9 will be none other then Claudia Black who plays Aeryn Sun from Farscape!

*insert Gasps*

WAIT!! It gets better.

So since Amanda Tapping is prego SG1 needs a new leader. Since Jacks promotion to General Carter took of the job and was promoted to colonel. Now that Tapping is pregnant she will obvioulsy be off the show. So chick wise we got Black comming in to give us a nice hottie to oggle over week after week but that still leaves the team without a leader.

Ben Browder is climbing aboard as a new member and acting team leader for season 9.

Who is Ben Browder? Why he is the main character John Chrichton from Farscape!!!

Ok...Now you can gasp.

So essentially it is like the gods that be took my two favorite Sci-fi dramas and twisted them together to please and tickle the very core of my soul.

It leads me to truly wonder and speculate on who would win in an all out, no holds bar, heavy hitting, down filled, pillow fight! The Peacekeepers or the Goa'uld?

Nevermind.

But wait there's even more!

Also to join Stargate season 9...awww fuck it, I'm just gonna do a cut and paste here to save myself the effort...

Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis continue to land big talent as the two shows ramp up toward production on their ninth and second seasons, respectively. Today MGM and SCI FI announced that award-winning actors Beau Bridges, Lous Gossettt Jr., and Mitch Pileggi will join the franchise next season in on-going roles.Beware of some minor spoilers in the story below.Bridges joins the cast of Stargate SG-1 as General Hank Landry, the new head of Stargate Command. When Jack O'Neill is promoted to oversee Homeworld Security (General Hammond's job during the current season), he hand-picks Landry to be his successor. Bridges will be a regular cast member on SG-1, and will also cross over to appear in a few episodes of Stargate Atlantis.Born in Hollywood, California, 63-year-old Bridges is the son of actor Lloyd Bridges and the older brother of actor Jeff Bridges. In his esteemed career he has starred in such films as "The Fabulous Baker Boys," "Inherit the Wind" (1999) and "P.T. Barnum" (TV mini-series). His television credits run the gambit from My Three Sons and Ben Casey to The Outer Limits and The District.Bridges has won three Emmys, and has been nominated for numerous Emmy, Gemini, and Golden Globe awards. He joins SG-1's Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, and newcomer Ben Browder for the show's ninth season.Gossett also joins the cast of SG-1 in a recurring role as a Jaffa leader who vies with Teal'c for political control of the new Jaffa nation. Born in Brooklyn, New York, 68-year-old Gossett is a veteran actor of such films as "An Officer and a Gentleman" (for which he won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and an Image Award) "Enemy Mine," "Iron Eagle," and the classic TV mini-series "Roots" (for which he won an Emmy). His series television credits include The Mod Squad, Bonanza, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Rockford Files, The Dead Zone, and many others.Science fiction fans will immediately recognize Pileggi as F.B.I. Assistant Director Walter Skinner on The X-Files. The 52-year-old, Portland, Oregon-born actor will play a recurring character on Stargate Atlantis -- a hard-nosed colonel who butts heads with Dr. Weir (Torri Higginson) and Major Sheppard (Joe Flanigan). From the description, Pileggi's character is probably Colonel Caldwell In addition to his long-running role on The X-Files, Pileggi has appeared on The A-Team, Alien Nation, China Beach, Dallas, Law & Order: SVU, and many others. In 2003 he hosted a new version of the classic reality series In Search of.

Anyways...um ya. There's my Stargate SG1 shpeel.
