Block rockin beats and another year bites the dust!

I just turned 34 the other day. I do not really have anything substantial to say about that really…one year older is one year older and really nothing ever changes. What I am excited about is the present Torte Girl gave me. She made me close my eyes and when I opened them sitting there in front of me was a 160GB classic (black) iPod!

I have not owned an iPod for a couple of years now…not to sure why…I was after all in line for the first generation of iPods when they came out. That was back in the day when it was almost 800 dollars for an 80GB classic.

Hip-hip hurray…what a wonderful thing it is to have a portable MP3 player back in my lusty little mitts again! It is one of those things when you do not own one you don’t really miss it, but when you do own one you wonder how you got by with out it.

Anyways, big kudos to Torte Girl, she made me very happy.

My Name Is Bruce.

My Name Is Bruce is the tale of a small town set upon by demons after a group of teen-agers unwittingly unleash an ancient curse. Campbell, playing himself, is kidnapped off the set of a B horror movie and, despite his protestations that he's just an actor, is forced to play the role of his heroic movie character in order to save the town. Mark Verheiden (The Mask, TimeCop) is writing the screenplay. Production is scheduled for early 2006 in southern Oregon."

Hail to the king, baby! I freaking love Bruce Campbell!

HBO and Preacher.

"The Vertigo Comics classic Preacher, the story of a possessed preacher, his ex-girlfriend, and an Irish vampire who confront God for taking time off from running the universe, will become an hour-long series on HBO."

If you look over at my sidebar at the list of comics I deemed worthy you'll see that Preacher is on that list!! Quite easily in my opinion one of the greatest comics to ever see print. I'm extremely happy that HBO is involved, and that they aren't trying to cram the entire series into a two hour movie like they are with the Watchman. I'm also very happy that Ennis and Dillon are Executive producers, and is being given some input on what will be happening with this project!

Freaking-A! Seriously, this is like one of my favorite comics EVER! It'll be interesting to see how they pull it off. Apparently it is going to be an hour long...and with 66 issues for the comic that could be simply translated to 66 televised episodes...yes, I'm excited.

I gots it, I gots it, I gots it I do!!

I picked up Gears Of War today. I gotta say, it feels like I've been waiting forever for this game - and I'm not ashamed to admit the flush of excitement that came over me when I put the disk in and the game fired up for the first time.

It doesn't disappoint one bit - and all the hype surrounding it is very well deserved. The run and gun days are over, it is now time for stop and pop, I'm absolutely loving the concept of taking cover in this game. The simplicity of just needing to really worry about one button (A button) to take care of all your cover options works very smoothly, and leaves you plenty of time to focus on taking out the enemy rather then trying to remember what does what.

There's a chainsaw on my gun!!

Yup.

And I swear to the gods I let out a holler when I was online and chainsawed my first victim, add to that the ability to curb stomp your opponent when he's down to finish him off, and you discover really that that's what Gears Of War is all about.

No doubt in my mind - this is the game of the year.

...

Also, while I was at the store getting Gears, I picked up the wireless headset/mic that was just released. Its pretty slick, waaaaaay overpriced - but hey, it makes me feel like Jack Bauer while I wear it, and thats worth the price in itself.
Over all though the headset works as good (if not better) as the wired set that comes with the Xbox 360.

EDIT -- Upon further use, I have sadly discovered this mic a shameful rip-off from Microsoft. I payed 70 freaking dollars and the bloody thing screams feedback and distortion into the ears of whoever happens to be at the receiving end. 80% of the time I end up having to switch to my default wired mic/headset.

El Laberinto Del Fauno

Or, Pan's Labyrinth. A film that I have mentioned a few times here, here and here.

A DVD screener leaked onto the usual pirate sites - and being the weak willed man that I am...I took full advantage, and hot damn am I ever glad that I did!!

*stands and applauds Guillermo del Toro*

Bravo!

Easily Guillermo's best film to date, and dare I say the pinnacle of his career!

The story was beautifully tragic, a wondrous fairy tale that frightens as well as inspires. Slow at times, but Guillermo peppered the entire story with these intense scenes of amazing fantastical elements that makes the whole thing worth watching. Especially (without giving away any serious spoilers) the feast scene.

This is what movies are about - this is what cinema can accomplish - this is exactly the film I had been hoping for ever since I heard of it way back when.

Cant wait to see it on the big screen.

A Wizard a Rancor and a Bong -- oh my!

I bought a new bong yesterday, and it smokes like a demon! I've always used smaller mid-size bongs before...so this time I decided to buy a long neck big daddy! So far I'm loving it, and its a welcome addition to the family.

For size reference I've added a Wizard and a Rancor. Obviously its big if it towers over those mighty power horses. :P

SG-1 & Atlantis

Both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis had their final episodes before their mid-season break this past Friday. Which is horrible as that means no new episodes until sometime 2007. On the upside I guess is that Battlestar starts up again Oct.6th, so I guess that will help to fill the void a little.

Still...I'm gonna miss my Stargates. even worse to come is the fact that this is SG-1's last season. :(

*sniffs*

Great cliffhanger episodes though, the both of them!! I mean seriously:

**Spoiler Warning**

A gods damned dragon in SG-1!!! My life is now complete! O_O
